Likee is a social-video networking app that allows users to create, edit and collaborate on video content utilising a suite of effects, stickers, music and popular film dialogue. Users can comment and share their location in real-time as they stream their videos.
The developers rate this app as suitable for ages 16+ years in Australia. However, there is no age verification process during sign-up, making it readily accessible to all ages.
The app collects a large amount of personal information during the sign-up process, only some of which is optional. Aliases may be used but a verifiable phone number or email address is required to complete sign-up. Third party platforms such as Facebook, Google or Instagram can also be used to sign-up.
Users can adjust their privacy settings within the Likee app. This includes turning off instant messages and location settings.
Likee allows you to report offensive and inappropriate content or block another user within the app. You can do this by going to the user’s profile and clicking the arrow at the right-hand top corner.
The app is free to download and install. In-app purchases are available once a user has joined the community. There are also opportunities for users to earn money during ‘prized events’. To collect earnings, users are asked to provide their bank details. Discretion is advised when providing any personal or financial information to a third party.
