Yellow is a location-based social networking app that helps young people 13 years and over connect with others around them. Users can also connect their Musical.ly, Snapchat or Instagram accounts to their Yellow profiles.
Users can become ‘friends’ with others by swiping right on their profile—similar in design to Tinder.

Yellow is not permitted for users under the age of 13.
Permission from a parent or guardian must be confirmed for people joining Yellow between the ages of 13 and 17 years.
If a user is under 18, and wants to change their age on their profile to over 18 after already registering, they must send Yellow official proof of identity for verification. Similarly, if a user is registered as over 18 and wishes to change to a younger age, they must submit age verification material to prove they are actually younger.
Users will receive regular alerts from Yellow if they are sharing content that is inappropriate or if they are faking who they are, for example being older or younger, their account will be removed.
In order to use Yellow you’ll need to verify your phone number and add a photo of yourself. The app also allows you to connect your Instagram, Snapchat and Musical.ly profiles, allowing other users to find and connect with you on these platforms. The app uses your location and age to surface up the profiles of other users around your location and age group.
Other users will be able to view the following information you have provided to Yellow:
You have the ability to review and update your personal information within Yellow by opening your Profile and going to Settings. You may also delete your account at any time by visiting the Settings page.
When users register for Yellow they receive a clear statement of the Community Guidelines which indicate inappropriate photos or videos will not be tolerated and users are encouraged to report any suspicious or abusive behaviour.
Users can report abuse or other concerns by clicking the flag button in the top left corner of the relevant profile.
Users can also ‘unfriend’ other users that are bothering them.
Parents can also send their concerns to Yellow through a dedicated contact form on the safety centre.
Yellow uses human moderation to review content that is reported, and monitor user profiles for suspicious behaviour. Profiles that may be fake users—pretending to be someone they’re not—or that share inappropriate content, are blocked and removed from Yellow.
Yellow uses backend software to automatically block any nude photos appearing in profiles, and to detect and moderate users who use ‘nude’ in their names or usernames.
