Safer Internet Day 2018

Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you.

About Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day (SID) is an annual, worldwide event held on Tuesday 6 February 2018 to help encourage a better internet, with this year’s theme ‘Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you’.

Celebrated globally in 130 countries, Safer Internet Day is coordinated by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission, and national Safer Internet Centres across Europe.

Our role in SID2018

The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is the official Committee for Safer Internet Day in Australia—responsible for driving the initiative nationally.

The Office is focussing its local efforts on the respect element of the SID2018 theme, running a number of activities and events for individuals and organisations to participate in. Find out how you can get involved and help the Office reach all Australians—young and older—with important SID messages and advice.

How to get involved

There are many ways you, and your organisation, can get involved with SID2018:

  • Sign up your class for our free SID2018 Virtual Classroom
  • Run internal staff events
  • Include content on your website, newsletters or other platforms
  • Use #SID2018 or #SaferInternetDay on social media

Whether you’re an individual, school, small business, not-for-profit, sporting club or large corporate, we want you to share how you or your community show respect online.
