Animal Jam is an online playground for kids where they can learn about the natural world while playing with friends.
In Animal Jam, children can become their favourite animal and explore the world of Jamaa, an exotic world filled with a number of different lands and ecosystems. As they explore, players—known as Jammers—can play fun games, watch educational videos and meet other children from around the world who share their love for animals.
Animal Jam relies on a fully-implemented version of Adobe Flash and the use of a mouse to play and run properly, therefore it is best suited for home computers and laptops, not tablets, phones and other mobile devices.

Players under the age of 18 must have parental consent.
Players using Animal Jam can interact with others playing the game. There are several chat options available.
Players can only type words or phrases from a limited dictionary. Restricted chat is a safe and engaging way for children to practise their typing and social skills, and it works much like the predictive text functions on mobile phones. By default, every new Animal Jam account is set to Restricted chat.
Players can freely type words and phrases to one another. Like all in-game chat, messages typed through Safe chat are run through the safety chat filter. Safe chat is only available to Animal Jam members who have verified parental consent. While all in-game chat in-game is filtered and moderated, there may still be some chat messages that can get through and may be offensive to some players.
Players cannot type messages, but can select expressive words and phrases from a pre-approved list.
The Parent Dashboard gives parents a number of settings that allow them to manage all aspects of their child's online presence in Animal Jam. Every Animal Jam player account must be linked with a Parent Dashboard.
The following player account options can be accessed via the Parent Dashboard:
To keep parents up-to-date on their children's Animal Jam experience, all email notifications will be sent to the parent email associated with the Parent Dashboard.
All in-game chat is run through a safety chat filter, which blocks inappropriate messages typed by players. While all in-game chat in-game is filtered and moderated, there may still be some chat messages that can get through and may be offensive to some players.
A team of moderators review all in-game reports and activities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If a player is found attempting to break the Animal Jam Rules, moderators will take appropriate action, including informing parents of any rule violations associated with their child's account.
To help players keep their Animal Jam account and experience safe, it is recommended that parents review the Animal Jam Rules with their children.
