eSafety’s National Online Safety Education Council (NOSEC)

The National Online Safety Education Council (NOSEC) provides a forum for stakeholders from Australian school sectors to address online safety challenges and promote best practice approaches to online safety education.
The eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman-Grant, announced the new national council in a media release to coincide with the Council’s inaugural meeting in December 2022.
NOSEC meetings are held online 4 times per calendar year – once per school term.
About the NOSEC members
Members of the Council work with eSafety in a variety of ways, such as:
- providing a channel for education stakeholders to inform the Australian Government’s and eSafety’s priorities for new online safety education programs, resources, campaigns and research
- fostering greater understanding and implementation of best practice approaches to online safety education
- raising awareness across Australian schools of the eSafety Commissioner and the support available through eSafety’s regulatory and reporting schemes, education programs, and resources
- sharing insights and helping coordinate messaging to schools on current and emerging online safety issues, trends and responses.
NOSEC members have provided input to the development of the eSafety Schools Hub and the Spotlight on Cyberbullying.
NOSEC members also inform eSafety’s Professional Learning Program for Teachers, and Classroom resources.
