Statement of Commitment to Children's Rights
As part of eSafety's responsibility for implementing the social media age restrictions for Australians under 16, we have developed a Statement of Commitment to Children's Rights.
The statement sets out our approach to implementing the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Respect for children’s rights underpins eSafety’s principles-based approach to implementing the social media age restrictions. We also expect those rights to be respected by age-restricted social media platforms when complying with their obligations.
