What is RuneScape?

RuneScape (or RuneScape 3) is an online fantasy/adventure role-playing game set in a virtual medieval realm. You create an avatar to represent yourself in the game, then start exploring, completing quests and slaying monsters. You can do this alone or with other players. Players interact with each other via online chat, trading virtual items and participating in mini-games. These games can be either competitive or collaborative in nature. RuneScape is free to play but you can purchase premium game content through the mobile or desktop apps.

A version based on the 2007 release of RuneScape – Old School RuneScape – is also available. This uses separate mobile and desktop apps.
