Tertiary education

To shape a new generation of engineers, computer scientists, lawyers, ethicists, entrepreneurs and technologists, we aim to embed Safety by Design in university curricula around the world.

So the future workforce takes a proactive and preventative approach to user safety, we are working with the tertiary education sector to incorporate Safety by Design concepts across a broad range of disciplines.

Safety by Design university pilot program

Working with a group of leading academics, our goal is to guide curricula for the next generation of students.

Throughout 2021, a number universities piloted Safety by Design material across various disciplines and lesson structures, including seminars, lectures, podcasts and online learning.

Co-designing solutions

RMIT’s Cloud Innovation Centre

eSafety has collaborated with RMIT on a Cloud Innovation Centre challenge, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Challenge solutions are co-designed between students, governments and industry to address the rapidly evolving digital environment and associated online security threats. Consideration of Safety by Design was important in the eSafety challenge, which focused on education and prevention of online harms in the university ecosystem.

Hackathons

A series of hackathons are planned to generate practical engagement with the start-up community, educate users and demonstrate real-time inclusion of Safety by Design. The outcomes of these events will also inform future initiatives.
