Anyone can sign up to Xbox LIVE. If you are a child, your account is linked to an adult's Windows LIVE ID.

Xbox LIVE's default online safety and privacy settings are divided into three age groups: child (under 13), teen (13–18) and adult (over 18). Xbox LIVE determines which default safety and privacy settings to use based on the birth date entered when the Xbox LIVE account is created.
