What was OK Live?

OK Live was a social media service that let you watch, create and share live streams from around the world on your mobile. You could ‘log in anonymously’ to use basic features of the service, but you needed to create a profile to use all functions of the app. You could search for live streams via location, view popular live streams and subscribe to other users to be notified when live streams start. You could also post comments and communicate with friends, groups and other users during live streams.

There was no way to make your profile private in the free version of the app. OK Live was created by the Odnoklassniki social network and offered a subscription service, which included an ‘invisible’ function. Recordings of live streams were stored indefinitely and able to be viewed on OK Live and Odnoklassniki. Live streams may have contained adult content.

OK Live is no longer operating as a standalone app as of June 2023. Users who visit the OK Live website are now directed to the Odnoklassniki app, who were the creators of OK Live.

About The eSafety Guide

The eSafety Guide helps you find out how to protect your personal information and report harmful content on common social media, games, apps and sites. Entries are for information only and are not reviews, endorsements or assessments against any legislative definition by eSafety. Before choosing to use any online service or platform it’s best to:

  • do your own research to understand the risks and benefits
  • check the age rating and requirements
  • consider privacy
  • check the permissions and other settings
  • check the in-app reporting options.

If you are a parent or carer who is deciding whether a child should be allowed to use an online service or platform, you can also:

  • consider your child's readiness for the types of content and experiences they might encounter
  • help them understand what to do if they need help
  • provide ongoing support and monitoring, for example through regular check-ins with your child
  • agree to some rules about use of each service or platform.
