What is Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV)?

Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV) is an online action-adventure game made by Rockstar Games. It is one of sixteen titles in the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise.

Known as an ‘open world’ game, GTAV lets players roam freely around the fictional state of San Andreas. There are three playable characters in GTAV, who are all hardened criminals and share a backstory. Each character has their own special set of skills, which improve as the game progresses. Players control one of three characters in single-player mode and up to thirty players can play in multi-player mode.

Gameplay involves going on missions and heists, stealing cars and clashing with police. The characters travel by foot, car or aircraft to fight their enemies with an arsenal of weapons. The story content is highly mature and adult-themed. The characters commit torture, abductions, murder, consume illegal drugs and alcohol, have sex and use profane language. They can also use the money they earn from committing crimes to buy upgrades, clothing, tattoos and visit strip clubs in the game.

GTAV players can communicate by voice chat or choose to mute the chat function. Rockstar Games also runs Social Club – an online community where you can share content and chat with other users.

Please note: The GTA franchise has received considerable criticism for its glorification of criminal activity, extreme violence and degrading depiction of women.
